The spotify algo doesn’t really support small unknown artists. Jan 2020 they made a change that forced small artists to give away the traffic they had to the popular accounts.
Spotify – like Amazon and many others, believe they make more money promoting popular artists by giving them more traffic. Which of course is taken from small artists.
They don’t factor in that there might be new great artists every day they lose.
It is very short sighted but also very common.
